I don’t know if this is the dreaded Adapalene purge (I was using it before, just not nightly), a sign that my skin is too dry (I briefly used a Cerave Salicylic acid cleanser when I began using adapalene each night last week) and that I have stripped my skin barrier, or if this is a reaction to the Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion. My face is itchy, and I am developing deep cysts on my face.

I also bought Cerave’s Daily Moisturizing Lotion because the Cosrx Birch Sap Lotion that I used before is now prohibitively expensive for me. This was working alright, but the products were too expensive, so I decided to go all in on adapalene. Previously, I was using the La Roche Posay adapalene, but very sporadically (maybe 2-3 times a week or less) in conjunction with ’s BP regimen. I am now regularly using it each night for the past week. I recently upped my usage of Differin’s adapalene. Something caused my skin to break out really badly and I’m not sure what.
